Diagnostic Medical Sonography, A.S. (2185)

Program Purpose:
To prepare students to become competent entry-level registered diagnostic medical sonographers possessing cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) skills.
Most registered diagnostic medical sonographers are employed in healthcare settings such as hospitals and physicians’ offices. They may also be employed in other medical and diagnostic labs.

Program Length:
77 credit hours

Admission Requirements:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and meet all admission requirements of the College.

Applicants must have earned a high school diploma or GED and must complete all admission requirements to the College.

Applicants must complete the program’s required prerequisite courses.

Prior to submitting the application for admission, applicants must complete all prerequisite courses with a grade of C or better and the Health Education Systems, Inc. Admission Assessment (HESI A2).

A minimum score of 75% on each subtest of the HESI A2 is required to be considered for admission. The subtests that are considered for admission are: reading, vocabulary, grammar, and math.

Students are admitted using a point system; students with the highest number of points will be admitted. These students must accept by official TSC e-mail and must complete all admission requirements for finalized admission. 

Program Application:
This program accepts students each fall and spring semester. This is a limited-access program; applicants are accepted based on the admission requirements point system described above. Application procedures must be completed by the published deadline. Applicants must submit a general TSC application (www.tsc.fl.edu/apply) and a separate healthcare programs application by the published deadline. Applicants may access the healthcare programs application through the TSC website.
