Program Purpose:
To prepare students for certification in dental assisting and to safely and effectively perform all functions that are legal for the dental assistant to perform in Florida. To prepare students to take the Dental Assisting National Board Exam. Quality patient care and the development of skilled dental assistants are the ultimate goals of the Dental Assisting program. This program also provides the first level of educational preparation for students seeking to become dental hygienists.

50 credit hours
Admission Requirements:
Applicants to the program must complete all admission requirements to the College. Applicant must have successfully completed biology and chemistry in high school or college and have a high school or college cumulative unrounded GPA of 2.0 or better.
Program Application:
The Dental Assisting program begins in the Fall semester and is a limited-access program. Applicants must submit a TSC Healthcare Programs application by the published deadline to be officially admitted into the program.
Scope of Practice/ Employment Opportunities:
Dental Assisting graduates will receive a diploma and expanded functions certificate. Graduates of the dental assisting program are immediately employable under the supervision of a dentist or dental specialist and can perform expanded duties pursuant to Florida Law 64 B5 which indicates those delegable duties allowed to be performed by dental assistants with formal training.
