MEA0521 Phlebotomist, MA0 credit hour(s) Students will learn about phlebotomy in the health care setting, to recognize and identify collection reagents supplies, equipment, and interfering chemical substances, to perform phlebotomy skills including infection control using standard precautions, procedures for transporting, accessioning, and processing specimens, and successfully complete venipuncture and capillary blood draws. This course includes 24 hours of clinical or live draw rotations. Students must successfully complete 30 venipuncture and 10 capillary sticks on live patients to sit for the certification exam. Contact: 75 clock hours. Additional fee. Does not count towards A.A. or A.S. degree.
