The Veterinary Assistants and Laboratory Animal Caretakers 1 course prepares students to understand the veterinary assistant profession, demonstrate proper use of veterinary science terminology, recognize normal and abnormal animal behaviors and how to restrain and control them, identify parts and functions of animal systems and various methods on how to identify animals, information related to animal control, welfare organizations, and animal-related laws, common husbandry practices and daily care of animals, preventative medicine and disease control and teaches students basic employability skills. Contact: 450 clock hours. Additional fee. Does not count towards A.A. or A.S. degree.
