HUM2210 Humanities of the World: Prehistory through Sixteenth Century3 credit hour(s) Prerequisite(s): satisfactory completion of the general education communications requirement. This course affords students the ability to think critically through the mastering of subjects concerned with human culture, especially literature, history, art, music, and philosophy, and must include selections from the Western canon. The study of literature, fine arts, music, and philosophy from ancient times through the renaissance. Analysis of selected masterpieces in humanities from ancient times through the renaissance. Analysis of the interrelationships between culture and the humanities. This course covers the Western canon. Lecture: 3 hours. Substantial writing component. Fulfills state writing requirement. Satisfies the general education requirement.
