Program Purpose:
To prepare students to assist a pharmacist with the technical tasks that take place in the pharmacy. Successful completers will be eligible to register as a pharmacy technician in the State of Florida (RPT) through the Florida Department of Health. Additionally, pharmacy technicians who successfully pass the program are eligible for the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Exams administered by either the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians. Those who pass this exam are then able to use the title Certified Pharmacy Technician, in conjunction with the title Registered Pharmacy Technician.

Admission Requirements:
Standard high school diploma or GED diploma. Must be at least 17 years of age. Must successfully pass local/national Level 1 criminal background check (student expense) and successfully pass drug screen (student expense). Must submit a completed TCC Immunization form. (Needed immunizations are at student’s expense.)
Note: Students must take the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) within the first six months of participation in the program or present evidence of allowable substitute. (.) In order to successfully complete the program, students must earn a score of 11 or higher in mathematics, 10 or higher in language, and 10 or higher in reading).
Program Application:
The Pharmacy Technician program begins each Fall and Spring and is a limited-access program. Persons interested in entering the Pharmacy Technician program should begin the application process during the term prior to which entry is anticipated. Applicants must submit a TCC admission application (www.gototcc.com) and Pharmacy Technician program application by the published application deadline.
