Applied Welding Technologies, PSAV Certificate (5023)

Program Purpose:

To prepare students to enter employment in the welding industry or continue their education. By successfully completing the program, students are eligible to receive an industry-recognized certificate, sit for American Welding Society (AWS) exams and receive an OSHA 1926 Safety card. The program is also aligned with industry-recognized certifications provided by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and the American Welding Society.

Program Length:
1,170 clock hours

Note: Classes are offered in the evenings only, Monday-Thursday 6 to 10 p.m. Students take one course per semester, except during semester 3, when they take two courses.

Admission Requirements:
A high school diploma or GED diploma. Must be at least 17 years of age, and must turn 18 years of age before achieving OCP A-Welder, Helper in order to be eligible for hire by industry.

Note: Students must take the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) within the first six months of participation in the program, or present evidence of allowable substitute. (Learn more .) In order to successfully complete the program, students must earn a score of 9.0 or higher in all three areas of the TABE (mathematics, language, reading).
