CCJ1191 Human Behavior in Criminal Justice

This course offers students an introduction to policing in the US.  We will review its history, organization, and administration, and present an overview of how police are recruited, trained, and educated.  Students will discover how police operations are determined, the functions of various units and the need for specialization, and contemporary strategies in policing.  We will discuss the police culture, professional police conduct, discretion and ethics, and police misconduct.   Contact: 3 hours.
