CTS1134 Networking and Telecommunication3 credit hour(s) Prerequisite(s): , CGS1555 Covers the standards and protocols of local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), PC to mainframe connections, LAN gateways to mainframe hosts and other distributed systems. The skills taught will focus on those of a network administrator. Emphasis will be on a variety of popular LAN hardware and software, as well as emerging technologies. Covers network topics from the perspective of both the user and network administrators, giving students insight into the field of computer networking. Various network cables will be constructed and tested in a lab environment. Introduces voice, data, and video telecommunication concepts, technical requirements, and application issues, to include techniques and management of such systems.
