AML2600 African American Literature3 credit hour(s) | Fall | Spring | Summer Prerequisite(s): satisfactory completion of the general education communications requirement. This survey course draws upon a compilation of genres, styles and language used by various writers of African-American descent. This course will also examine the ideas and literary contributions of 19th and 20th century African Americans such as Frederick Douglass, Malcolm X, Richard Wright, Toni Morrison, Alice Walker and Nikki Giovanni. Contact: 3 hours. Substantial writing component. Fulfills state writing requirement.
