BSC2085 Anatomy and Physiology I3 credit hour(s) | Fall | Spring | Summer Prerequisite(s): documented exemption, appropriate placement test scores, or completion of developmental education reading, writing and mathematics. Recommended: High school chemistry, high school biology (or higher) and basic knowledge of medical terminology. Corequisite(s): Recommended BSC2085L . High school chemistry, high school biology (or higher) and basic knowledge of medical terminology are strongly recommended before taking this course. This course, along with BSC2085L , is the first half of an investigation of the structure and functioning of the human body. The lecture and the lab together cover basic chemistry, basic cell biology, tissues and the integumentary system, skeletal system, muscular system and nervous system. Designed primarily for nursing, respiratory therapy, dental hygiene and other healthcare professions, the primary emphasis is physiology (function). Not intended for biology majors or nonscience majors. A comprehensive final exam in all sections of this course will test the student’s knowledge of all the units covered in the semester. Lecture: 3 hours. Recitation: 1 hour. Additional fee.
